10-10-10

10-10-10 was such an amazing day!
Groups from 20 local churches divided up 45 project sites. The tackled everything from tree trimming and house painting to reading to the elderly assisted and decorating cards for the troops. Cleanup crews hit the streets with weed eaters and chainsaw, cleaning ditches and trimming about half the trees in Terrell. Breezy Hill Park had their playground equipment repainted.

That night, everyone was welcomed at Ben Gill Park to BBQ and music. People from the different groups and projects gave testimonies about their experiences of the day.

Web hosting, domain registration, and site builders

Wow!!
This is so much more complicated than the basic HTML building I played and experimented with back in the day with Xanaga.com and MySpace.com (back when MySpace WAS the Facebook of the world).

I'm suppose to create a website for the company I work for, Station 402. We're heavily involved with social media networking and video production. A blog just isn't enough. We want more organization and options, such as ECommerce in the future.

I'm getting more familiar with GoDaddy.com's CPanel. Even though I don't have the specific control I'd like with direct HTML.

But hey, this is all a learning process.
I have spent HOURS studying web hosts and domain hosts trying to find what works best for me.

Catching Up

I've been working hard, on my own time, to find royalty-free music. I've talked to a few musicians, some delivered samples.
I can easily video tape about 4 or 5 songs worth of projects a week. But I haven't had the new music (and no one likes repeats).
The license that Terrell First Baptist Church has is restricted to live-preformances only. A higher class of license is needed for internet distribution.
I'm not a fan of paying the ridiculous high costs of royaltyfreemusic.com but I am willing to pay a musician who is flexible with their material. Feel free to contact me at stambolija_michelle@hotmail.com or station402media@hotmail.com

I'm backed up without music. I have two projects I'm working on, and another two on the way this week.

Cross Point Community Church Block Parties

Cross Point Church organized a group of us that went out today door to door in the Meadow Creek community, near Town North Dr, delivering invitations and personally inviting households to a block party.
Saturday 21st @ 6PM is the Meadow Creek block party.

Thursday 19th we'll be going around the Country View Manor Apartments to invite neighbors to that block party.
Friday 20th @ 6PM is the Country View Manor block party.

Both parties will have Bounce Houses for the kidos and popcorn. The snowcones will be great in this dissipating heat we've had. Tables will be stocked with poured drinks and food. Hotdogs and hamburgers will be served.

On behalf of First Baptist Church and Labor for Your Neighbor, I say thank you to Cross Point Church for inviting us to help make this an exciting event.

Crappie Anglers of Texas

From our home in Terrell, a Terrell Outdoors enthusiast and myself went to Carollton, TX where the Crappie Anglers of Texas hold their monthly meetings at the public Library. A guest speaker, Todd Long, told about his two year long jounrey to become a Game Warden. He is one of two in Collin county. I didn't know that you need a degree in Wildlife to become a park ranger. He's very excited to finally have graduated and be sworen in.
The crowd at the meeting was a lively bunch, trading fish stories and telling of their latest water excursions. I spoke before them about the Terrell Outdoors Expo & Banquet. Many picked up our brochures, while some grabbed posters to hang at their hot-spots. We have our fingers crossed for some of their sponsors to join us.
It's going to be a fun-filled and educational family-event.
